Post-Thanksgiving Bliss

Yesterday’s Workout:  Ran 8 miles outside (67 min, 8:24/mi)

I was so pleasantly surprised to see how many people were out running, walking, and biking yesterday morning.  I must have seen hundreds of people out on Bayshore Blvd, and for once I’m not exaggerating.  Amazing how many people are willing to burn those extra calories so they can go eat 3,000 more.  Well, at least that’s what I was doing.  I was thinking we should all organize our own Turkey Trot, but no one else seemed to agree.  Oh well.

Our Thanksgiving was perfect.

After my 8 miler, we had pumpkin waffles, fruit, and mimosas for brunch.  It was my first time opening a bottle of champagne (I guess I’m just not very classy) and I nearly killed us both.  The waffles were square this time (because I didn’t make them) and I thoroughly enjoyed their pumpkinness.

We devoured this mango bruschetta.  I might start making it every day.

The main event included lentil walnut loaf, garlic glazed green beans, roasted mixed vegetables, and wild rice pilaf.  Three words:  who needs turkey?

And for dessert…chocolate bar pie.  Also makes a great post-Thanksgiving breakfast, in case you were wondering.

Both of us have the day off today, so we are planning to spend it in a state of post-Thanksgiving bliss.  I’m probably going to put up our Christmas decorations, do some online shopping, and watch crazy people shopping on CNN.  I can’t say that I have never shopped on Black Friday, but I can say I have never threatened to stab anyone for pushing me while entering a Wal-Mart on Black Friday.  There’s some people who can’t say that, and that’s sad.
